Lovington, NM (May 8, 2026) — Superintendent Quiñones announced Mark Mapes as the new Director of Human Resources and Secondary Academics for Lovington Municipal Schools.  

Mr. Mapes has extensive experience with Lovington Schools, ranging from classroom teaching and building administration to his most recent position as the Assistant Director of Special Programs.  Mr. Mapes will replace the Assistant Superintendent, Dr. Parker, who will be retiring next fall. 

Superintendent Quiñones shared that, “Mr. Mapes is a dedicated leader who values relationships, collaboration, and doing what is best for students and staff.” “His professionalism, integrity, and strong understanding of our district will continue to strengthen Lovington Schools and support the work happening across our campuses.”
