Safety Incident 8/12/26

(8/12/26 - 10:47 AM) - At 10:15 this morning, a weapon was detected in the possession of a student at New Hope HS.  The schools were immediately placed on lockdown, and law enforcement was dispatched and on scene.  The individual and the weapon, a pellet gun,  have been secured, and the lockdowns are being lifted. 

 

Lovington Schools would like to thank all Law Enforcement agencies for their quick response and professionalism during today’s event and all our coordinated safety drills. 

Board Vacancy

The Lovington Municipal Schools Board of Education is seeking qualified applicants to fill a vacancy on the Board. Per board policy and state statute, the person must be a qualified elector of this state and must physically reside in the District. 

The appointed individual will serve the remaining portion of the term, which ends December 31, 2027, and will have the option to run for election in November 2027 to continue serving in the position after December 31, 2027.

Letters of Interest can be mailed in or delivered in person, addressed to the LMS Board of Education, 18 W. Washington, Lovington,  NM 88260. Letters will be accepted until 4:00 pm on Thursday, August 20, 2026. Letters received after that date/time will not be considered.
